Waves Rush In was first shared with the world by Sam Branson in 2021, with the release of his first EP titled ‘Season’s Change’. His debut album ‘Under The Static’ was released on 16 June 2023 to rave reviews from the likes of Ed Sheeran and support from Ryan Reynolds. Featured press coverage came in from the likes of The Times, Yahoo and an on-air television interview on ITV’s Lorraine in July 2023.
The lead single ‘Like a Hero‘ from his follow-up album entitled ‘Equilibrium‘ was released on 31 May 2024. Each of the album tracks will be released one-by-one over twelve months, culminating in the release of his second album in April 2025.
His debut album launch also saw a sold out headline show at The Troubadour in London, alongside Waves’ first ever national BBC radio support. The album’s third single ‘The Man That I Am’ was added to the C-List Playlist on 39 BBC stations across the UK and stayed there for four consecutive weeks. Additional BBC support came in from Sam’s hometown of BBC Introducing Oxfordshire & Berkshire who supported every single and invited Sam in to perform live on air to celebrate the release of his lead single ‘7 Billion‘ in June 2023. Further radio support included Track of the Week at JackFM for two consecutive weeks, plus more than 124 plays on Amazing Radio throughout the album campaign and A-List Playlist adds on the armed forces radio (BFBS) and SFM.
Under The Static was much more than just a debut album; for Sam, who had written and recorded this body of work in his late thirties, its very fabric has been woven from a lifetime of passion, adventure, love, loss and everything in-between. Its lyrics are illuminated by the light of a life truly lived.
The momentum and success of the debut album follows on from Waves’ first two EPs which built a strong foundation of industry support, including a feature in Wonderland Magazine, an A64 interview / performance with SBTV, and a performance on the main stage at Soho House Festival in July 2022.
For Sam, Waves Rush In is one of his most important journeys yet and the Waves community is about much more than just the music. It is a constellation of kindred spirits who see the world through compassionate eyes; those who believe in truth and authenticity; those conscious travellers who love to explore – internally and externally – and wish to celebrate the best of humanity.
